Take it step by step...

Take for instance, you've just finished your 5th semester exams and are planning on taking driving lessons. You've not done even a single project in your past holidays, you have no part-time work references, you have no extra curricular activities to keep you occupied. Its just family, friends and food keeping you awake. I'm talking of a simple lazy engineer who shares a similar lifestyle. What does such a person do when faced with the Ultimate question : ''So, what do you plan to do after you get a degree?''. Simple, he has two options: One, he thinks about it for sometime, and then postpones his planning for the next time the question pops up; Two, he panics... Poor guy doesn't know what to do, all of a sudden he's been hit by a hard brick wall called reality. He has no clue, he's lost.

For the former case, I'd say 'Open Your Eyes!', you've got to get serious and start thinking about your future. You don't expect the neighbors to do it for you! Its your life, plan it well...
For the latter case, well, its not too late. In fact, you're just in time! At least you've realized you need to start building your career. That doesn't mean you stress yourself day and night, burn the midnight oil and keep searching till you find the right path. No, that's just you being too hard on yourself. At this time, strategic thinking and planning is more acknowledged that a rush of impulsive decisions. So, what if you've not done anything yet? There are plenty of fish to catch in the sea. Opportunities can be found and used to a good deal of advantage. You have another year and a half to complete your degree. For now, start planning
step by step...
Every organization runs on a set of rules and procedures. Our life is no different. Your first step is to decide on what you want to do - do you want to work, or study abroad, or study here?... etc, etc. Stop right there. Once you're sure, go ahead, plan the next step - how you want to do it? Then follows - Where you want to do it and what do you plan to do next. All this has to be discussed and finalized only once you're sure. Financially too, it must be feasible. This is a major aspect that cannot and must not be overlooked. If you're still in doubt, go ahead, consult different people who have pursued and succeeded in what you are interested, visit different institutions, google your work of interest and find out as much information you can. This much of effort should gear you up for a bright and well planned future.
Once you know what you want to do, start preparing from now itself. You're still very young and have immense potential. Do not be scared of venturing out. Also, you must learn the art of multi-tasking. Its the most effective way of getting things done. As the wise always say, don't be scared of failures. They happen so that you can learn from it and rise as a better person. Whatever that helps you in achieving your goals, do not be afraid to try it. Commitment is a good trait, it gives rise to growth within a person. These are a few ideals one must try and follow, and supreme to all of them, that will take you to the top, is to have faith, self-confidence and complete trust in yourself. Only you know what you can achieve. Build on it!
Well, try this out... I'd guarantee a 99.9% success rate!
For the youth of today, I wish you all the very best in your endeavors. I hope to have untied a few knots... Know that, come what may, I believe in you! Its out there, GO GET IT!!!

In Your Loving Memory

A flower for you i seek to give
A vast expanse of blooms
Your beauty shines upon this Earth
A gift you share with poised blossoms
Your untamed affections speak
Of wild tulips and daffodils
Wild lilies for your spirit
With iris to match your grace

Daisies share your eternal smile
Violets sway to your silky curls
You color our world like the sunflower
Your love shall be among the orchids
And yet a choice for love I make
Upon your grave... shall rest a Rose

You've Got To Check This OUT!!!

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I'm known for doing crazy stuff! If you've followed my earlier posts, one of them speaks of me having this craze for giving nicknames for anything i like! Well, i went a step further (as i always faithfully do! lol) and thought, why not play a game? You know... Make life a little exciting! So here goes!!! Its in the form of a story, now follow carefully...

I'm just a plain old man
Who gives out mail from a van
I work all day
My dues i pay
I do the best i can!

But now I'm in a dilemma
There are 14 invites in my pajama
They have weird names
Meeting up for games
And want me to bring my mamma!

To me they are friends in relation
All come from a different dimension
Can't figure who's who
Just tell me that's you
I hope I'm true in my assumption!

Simple: I have 14 invites, one of them is yours. Each invite has a weird name attached to it, with the description of the personality behind it. You've got to guess the name and tell me! Enjoy!!
Note: The invite will be given personally... (lol!) The game is to guess your 'alter-name' for now. Good Luck!

CLOWN: She's funny, stylish and very flamboyant with her expressions. Very child-like and fun loving. Loves to cuddle and plays the fool all the time. Has a knack in making people laugh and keeping them on their toes. Ever-irritating and hard to be without. An eye for curiosity, she's the cuddle girl of our family!

PSYCHIC: She's intuitive as the name goes and has an air of sophistication around her (loves this word, btw...lol). She's a diplomat, thinks more realistically and relates everything to her evergreen sarcasm. She's fun to be with, cant stop laughing around her and has weight issues (coz she's so fat!!!...lol). Her complexes out number the stars in the sky, and yet she remains charming, has a beautiful way of conveying her thoughts...

ZOMBIE: I love this girl for her name...lol. Very clever, smart and definitely (i'll have to admit!) un-zombie-ish! She's the quiet girl with so many ideas for her own line of designer wear. Interprets with a lot of practicality and uses her silence to her advantage to study and observe the people around her. A computer lingo wiz, she's a cool gal to hang out with. She invented the polls! how can i forget?! Don't anger her though... She's got the Look! Hence the name Zombie!!!

CHINGY: A very special name for an equally special gal. Mature and generous, she's a hardcore fan of Chinese food, loves watching kungfu panda and loves pulling my leg like crazy! A mischief maker like the clown, she knows how to have her fun and where to draw the line at the same time. Very lovable and truly loves her close ones (we all do!) Loves astronomy and wishes to play the Guitar very soon...

MONK-EE: OK, first of all, it was my idea to give her 'the monk', but apparently, the psychic gave it a more feminine touch (lol). She's got the look, the brain and the attitude! A total fun loving gal with a keen eye for creativity. She's a food addict and enjoys mass bunking with her fellow classmates! Loves traveling and introduced me to blogging (thanks!). She's freakishly thin and very pretty! GO girl!

PSYCHE: She's the tickle-factor in the gang. Loves to talk, do the walk, likes to rock! A crazy fan of western music, and a Kannada illiterate (baby kannada!), she'll go to no ends to bring back a smile on a teary face. Loves her friends, poetic 23X7 (!!), completely eccentric at times and carries an air of creativity around her. She's got the moves people, a party-freak! She could be annoying at times, but beware, she's unpredictable!

RETARD: Tall and chubby, he's the chocolate boy of the gang. A big foodie and a super duper humongous gigantic HUGE fan of football, he truly loves the sport, be it watching it, or playing it! Very lovable and loves cracking jokes. Terrible at singing (i mean mirror cracking material!lol) (So is the psychic...just glass-cracking...lol) he knows how to keep that grin stuck on your face. Loves to sleep and laze around. Loves his friends and loves good rock music...

PEASANT: Tall, thin and gangly, he's the descendant of the vampires!(your teeth...lol) ! Got a HUGE collection of good movies has 'faster-than-speed-of-light' downloading facilities...lol. He too's a MAJOR football fan, loves his friends and likes listening to good music. All enjoy his silent company, got a nice way of writing his thoughts (check out his blog!), sensitive and a very good friend! btw... I know why you're called that! lol...

MIMIC: He's the god when he's on stage! The best orator/actor I've ever seen in my entire life off the tv screen (lol). Totally fun to be with, very cool and calculative. He's a risk taker and is very good at it! Multi-talented and a joker himself, he knows how to keep his people happy. Very inspirational and experienced, and a total sucker for practical jokes, he's mr. funnyman!

SMOKEY: The dude with the magic fingers! He's the man with the golden string. A guitar music fanatic, he knows his way around the cords. Otherwise, a cool dude to hangout with anytime, he'll be there. Very sweet and a little stupid, he's one person who'll put you into splits of giggles. He and Mimic often attend fests to check out the whole package, the col and the chics... Old habits, indeed die hard...lol. With his guitaring and vocals by the Psyche, there's no better music!

BOUNCER: He's cute and has an amazing black Christ pullover that he wears all the time. Very sweet and nice, he's one guy you can always find around busy on his cell... lol. Crazy about jamuns and loves bringing his mum's specially made 'killer chutney' to col. For Psyche, without these guys, her food's an untouched hot lonely tupperware box...lol. A big foodie and a pet lover, he's fun to be with on foot and behind his bike (beware, he has driving issues...lol)!

BOOKWORM: He's small and thin, but don't judge a book by its cover. He talks a lot, reads a lot, sleeps not! The owl in our gang, just like the Psyche, he's up to burn the midnight oil. A fan for good novels and a keen interest to help others, he aims to become the IAS officer just like in his dreams. Loves fighting with the Psyche in kannada, has his own share of fun with everyone else(poor psyche...lol) and spreads the joy around. He's the geek!

SUGAR BOY: He's the sweetest person around, and very caring. Sometimes in his own world, but all boys are, aren't they?? lol... Very responsible and very lovable too! When around, he has his own way of putting out his thoughts. Haven't seen him in an attire of sarcasm(hear hear, psychic!...lol) but loves to be around clowns...lol. Excellent badminton player! He's like a brother to all us girls... this means we will expect gifts for raksha bandhan, bro! lol...

SNOWMAN: That name's his specially coz he melts when around chinese food! lol... Just like a snowman, he has a very likable smile, and a very loving nature, although he needs to gain some weight! Mad about cars too! cool to be with, he loves playing scrabble and has a very sweet mom. Given a chance, he'd advertise for mcDs! The best comp wiz i've ever seen(except Zombie of course!)Loves to be pampered and long drives too...

Here it is! Our 14 celebrities! Can you guess your name? Which one is it? Go on! Go crazy and comment! Just don't guess the others... We'll wait for them to play the game ;)
Enjoy!!!

An Endless Quest

Imagine if you were at the edge of a cliff and you can see the world stretched in front of you. Just beneath the cliff is the endless ocean stretching into the abyss. The sky is effortlessly beautiful, the animals around giving life to nature. No one is around to disturb you in your moment of peace. At this high point, Closer to God, you are in a state of complete and total harmony. The sound of the air swirling around you, balancing you on your firm feet. Far far away, you can hear the waves crushing the rocks down below, where the water runs shallow. With every passing moment, you attain tranquility, your inner soul merges into your mind and speaks out its deepest desires. At your state of supreme power, you stand, looking at the world stretched in front of your eyes...
Tell me... What would you be thinking?

The Universe, Our bearer...

One thing life's taught me is that, there's no boundary to imagination. Its a powerful tool that always keeps the mind from aging. No matter where you are, or what you're doing, you can always create your own dimension, your own world, with just your mind and a little bit of creativity, Something i'd like to exercise at all times.
There was a topic i came across not very recently with one of my friends, about how things are created in the universe. There is this theory we discussed about, which i would very fondly like to recollect...
The universe is immeasurable and so big that its hard to give it a shape in our mind's eye. This universe of ours is an entity by itself. The theory goes like this... Every thought, wish, or image that is born in a person's mind is taken by the universe. The condition, though, being that, the thought with the most weight is fulfilled. Isn't is amazing to think that the universe is accumulating all our thoughts at this very moment? Something that is so incomprehensible might actually be taking place at every instant of your time on this Earth?
You might ask me what exactly i meant by 'weight'? You might even ask me - if we wish for something to happen so badly, why does it not happen? Is the universe busy elsewhere attending matters of the state? lol... Interesting as it may seem, the answer is simple. Every thought has an emotion attached to it. It could be good, bad, pure, evil, etc. but it holds onto your mind, thus causing your mind to think of it constantly. That's when you attach a certain amount of weight to it. The most thought of idea might be very heavy while just a stray thought could be light as a feather. The universe, as per our crazy theory, takes in every thought of ours and fulfills the ones with the weight. Who knows, he could be a cloaked dark figure with an air of mystery, sitting in the sky and keeping an eye on each and every one of us!
Strange as it may seem, Who knows?

Why indeed?

I walk alone on the path of destiny
I walk alone to face the world
I walk alone for a better future
But why on Earth must i walk alone?

Old habits die hard!

People say that old habits die hard. A very old habit of mine has been to keep a pet name for everything that's dear to me, be it a person or a thing.
When it comes to someone, every person has a secret nickname, and that nickname has the power to control that person's reputation in front of the world. Funny fact is that, the funnier it is, more people know you! In a way, it makes building contacts easier! lol... For instance, one of my close friends Preksha (girl, if you're reading this, bear with me!!!) has this very Gothic look she uses to throw at me and anyone who steps on her circle of peace. Though funny, it gives me the creeps! So, with no effort at all, i named her zombie. The name stuck on, and now everyone calls her so! This new name made her unique and if possible, even more lovable... Something that we often strive to become in our regular lives.
When it comes to things, every item needs a little acknowledgment. Everything, be it a player, or a bag, or even a toothbrush fulfills an important work it is used for. I know it sounds crazy, but sometimes, naming an item you hold very dear to yourself gives that sense of satisfaction in knowing that you're not alone. When I'm in a crowd of unknown faces, i turn to the comforts of iris, my mp3 player (just illustrating an example). Its an inanimate gadget, that doesn't talk, doesn't walk, but is programmed to play all the songs on its playlist fed by me using my computer. But without it, in that crowd, i would be a loner without something or someone to connect to. With it, i know I'm not alone. It plays the songs i like, when i want it to. Then why not give it a little respect, an identity of its own?
Just a thought... Think about it...

The Still Point

Sandhya, i finally figured out the password for my blog! Actually, it didn't need any effort, just common sense and a little bit of memory power...lol!

Its been long since i've posted something, 'long' being an understatement... I've chosen to post the true meaning of what i believe in a 'still point', after this period of hibernation.

I believe that at every point in life, thoughts are in continuous generation within a person's mind. That's what keeps him alive and active. Without thoughts, ideas, dreams, nightmares, etc, our mind would be in a void... in short, idle. For these thoughts to surface and take a form in reality, it requires a moment of stillness, when the mind, body and soul can actually feel the meaning and depth of it, irrespective of how significant or insignificant it might be. And this point is what i call a 'Still Point'. In any circumstance, when a decision has to be taken, the void fills up.

Sometimes, we need to acknowledge how well our mind works, conscious, semi-conscious or unconscious... To feel a thousand emotions from time to time is easy to show, but difficult to understand. When we see an ocean, we are amazed at its gargantuan existence, but do not acknowledge the existence of the tiny innumerable droplets of water that make it the way it is. Why should the mind be so different? A billion... no, a gazillion thoughts might've entered our minds, even more if possible, but every thought is important in building a person's identity and personality...His very character. And that, my dear reader, is why we have a Still Point... To reflect what the mind thinks and understand its true (could be real or fiction) thinking is all i attempt to do.

Even a stray of thought is enough to mark the beginning of a new revolution. Why deprive the universe of it?

Complacence

Show me thy way, my beloved,
Invite me into thy sentiments,
For I come to grow my affections
And to erase the furrowed brow.
Tender as the touch of a new born
Thy warmth couples into my soul;
A treasure spoken of by all
Hath laid its fate upon my palms.

Seek me in thy tuned heart
Hear the extent of my melody.
Strings await their pleasured touch
To resonate the growing intensity.

Venturing into untamed lands
Love shall spark our True Romance.

A Distant Echo

The moving finger writes
to the strange versions of
the newly written past.
Sailing to the stars, away
from the mists of the Earth
Like an ethereal phanthasma
awakening the seeded dreams-
A thirst to rule the conscience
and the appendages of life
seems to be the breathing motive.

Amidst the confusion arises
a caravan of stray thoughts
leading into unknown territories.
A want to explore the path
flames within this seeker
to the peak of an inferno.
I float into this temptation
reaching for the zenith
awaiting my turn...to fulfil my wish

Paranoia

Time has crossed past endurance
into darkened showers of pain
The leaves lay dead to mock
the beauty of the autumn chill
Books gather dust, with quills broken
Shards of glass, shattered to pieces
share fates with my bleeding womb
Alas I weep to the broken reflections.

Must I burden this swamp to
to hear voices into the night?
Separated from the beating love
i drown in calm tempests

A wish I plea to bargain with him
Born to live, may silence be heard.

Confession

Thou art the true master of life
born from the deep realms of heaven
Thy beauty pledges me to wing
my caged fears and dream
with a child’s bliss and innocent wonder.
Will thou wish to dwell upon
this warren with a beating heart
that sings to merge with thy rhythm?

Like a charmer to his serpent, thy spell
is cast upon me as I dance to thy tune
Bear with me – for thy presence
is my essence of existence.
If this be fantasy, then I a mirage
For I breathe to drown in thee…forever.

India... I Bleed For Thee

The first time i set foot
on the sacred Indian mud,
I had no fancy items to trade
no business with an MNC company
no experience to fill my resume.
It was a dream run loose
inside my head, like a wild mustang
on the evergreen texan landscapes-
to do something for my country...

An orphaned couple abandoned,
With my sister on my hip, i travel
barefoot on the blessed streets
vibrating to the buzz of activity.
It felt so right to be here,
so safe for my sister to grow
into a strong Bharatiya Nari,
A dream often seen by a mother
which i replace without guilt.

Little did i know my fate
was as cursed as the rabid dogs
of the construction site.

Thirst taking a toll upon
my young little companion,
i searched for a spot to beg
a small drop of water from
the very busy streets of Mumbai.
India, being a land of variety
often attracts juvenile minds
to its ecstatic wonders...
And so, while i was busy with
the errand burdened on my shoulders,
I fail to see two young men
with heavy baggage and long strides
pass me with blunt ignorance.
A rotund object did attract attention
that seemed to be most presciously held.
Like a bolt of lightening, it was released,
finally delivering it to the destination.

Another roadside prank,i carelessly thought
until i saw, with these very own eyes
the impact of the act that led to devastation.
The masquerade of mumbaikers
turned into a heap of bloody corpses
Lifeless as never before.
Even at a distance, i lie in shock,
paralysed to see the aftermath
that took a toll on the innocent.
My lungs ceased to take in air
as i find my sister on the floor
crimsoned, burned, ashed at places,
her hair turned to thin air;
she fought to keep her
4year old body alive,
fighting to awaken from this nightmare...
Terror struck to the roots
God doesn't seem to pay attention
to the slowly escaping gasps
from her wounded bosom.
With prayers whispered aloud,
I hold her in my sooted arms
asking for a miracle to happen.
I remember, her very last breathe,
her very last words that spoke
the universal truth...
'Why me, akka?'she said,
and parted with me, forever alone.

A mother's anguish surfaces
to flame the world with her loss
How long will it taketo get a safer world?
How long must we suffer till we can promise
our futures a safe journey ahead?
Politics, religion, cast,does this matter?
Isnt it enough that we areblessed as humans?
Why colourthe world with petty vengeance?

Today i stand to claim my rights,
for my dearly departed sibling
and to all the lost lives.
Neither a Hindu, nor a Muslim
Nor a Christian, nor a Sikh...
What do these words mean to me?
Above all, I am an Indian...
A beggar, full of pride
And all i beg is for mercy...

Save us from this mutiny!
Save us from this tyranny!
Save us!
